Laundry Room Trends and Ideas

The average North American household spends on average 260 minutes per week on laundry. That’s roughly four hours per week. Fortunately, Dundas Jafine has options to optimize the time you spend in the laundry room. Let’s explore a few ideas to maximize your laundry room’s style and functionality.

STACKABLE WASHER & DRYER

A stackable washer-dryer is a good option for those looking for full-service laundry capabilities, but with limited space. Also known as a laundry center, the stackable washer-dryer is a configuration in which the dryer stands on top of the washer, rather than next to it.

This type of laundry set up may require the use of a dryer vent box. Dundas Jafine’s Recessed Dryer Vent Box allows the dryer to be pushed up against the wall of the laundry room, saving space. The box also completely protects the duct from being crushed, and lint build-up is minimized due to the limited kinks and bends. It is made of UL94HB rated, high impact polystyrene and features an oval to round duct adapter which threads on easily to the duct and makes installation fast and easy.

NATURAL AND FRESH TONES

Natural soft tones and light colors help make spaces look larger and inviting. Although nature often inspires our décor trends, inviting it into our homes is not a good idea. Birds, squirrels and other small critters tend to seek the warmth sheltered dryer duct exhausts on homes to nest and to raise their babies. Protect your home from invasive pests with the ProGard™ Exhaust Hood.

Dundas Jafine’s ProGard™ Hood features a louvered damper cap that helps to prevent cold air back draft, snow or rain from entering the home. The cammed louvers have been redesigned to prevent them from sticking in the open position. This exhaust cap features a low profile pest guard that helps to keep pests out and can be easily removed to allow for cleaning of the duct. Additional features include a molded caulk edge to assist in maintaining a clean caulking application and a snap on aluminum pipe to cap assembly, that eliminates the need for lint trapping staples.

MUDROOM LAUNDRY

Mudroom laundry combos are very comfortable and if decorated well, look great. It gives you an opportunity not to take living space for a utility area and that’s a big advantage. Even if your mudroom is tiny, it can comprise some necessary elements: a washer, a dryer and some cabinets, shelves and hangers. If your mudroom laundry feel cold in the winter months, and hot in the summer months, you may want to look into adding a Draft Blocker to your clothes dryer’s exhaust duct.

Dundas Jafine’s Draft Blocker will help to prevent outside air from entering the home through the dryer duct. This product is molded from high impact plastic and fits all 4” ducts.
